The gorgeous Anna from Melbourne-based Leeloo label Much Love tells us about her inspiration of “all things nice” and how it propels her creativity and her unusual snacking habits.
Why do you make things – i.e. what inspires you?
I’m inspired by all the sweet and wonderful little things in life. The kind of things that most people don’t notice, but when they do, it makes them smile. I love all things fun, innocent, and a bit quirky, and I think that comes across in my designs.
What is your favourite smell?
Tthe rain, jasmine, freshly baked cookies
What do you like about being part of the Leeloo family?
I love how passionate and supportive Angela has been from the very beginning, which has really helped me grow and become more confident as a designer.
If you could be anything in the whole world, what would it be?
I don’t know, that’s a hard one. I just want to be happy doing something I’m passionate about, and making other people happy along the way.
What artistic talent do you wish you had?
Sing and dance. It’s a shame I have no rhythm!
What do you do to lower your carbon footprint in your everyday life?
I’m always thinking of how I can reduce and reuse waste, even if it’s with the simplest actions. I’ve made a conscious effort where instead of buying brand new goods (esp. clothes!), I choose to buy secondhand or vintage ones. I’m also getting better at remembering to bring my own shopping bag – I love mine, it has polka dots on it!
What’s your favourite place in the world?
My parent’s house in Indonesia.
What’s your favourite song at the moment?
There’s not one particular song, but I’ve been enjoying the soundtrack of (500) Days of Summer lately.
What is the hardest part of being an independent designer?
It takes a lot of self discipline, which I’m still struggling with.
What was your best subject at school?
Art! No surprises there, huh?
What is your guilty pleasure?
Potato chips and chocolate (occasionally at the same time!)
What do you hope to be creating in 5 years time?
Anything fun and wonderful that will make a lot of people smile. To be less vague though, I’d love to explore photography and illustrating too, so I hope to be doing something in that as well.

I love Anna, and she has been an inspiration to begin my own shop. It’s so true about self discipline, but she carries herself so professionally and gracefully, I would never think she slacked!
Congrats on the feature, Anna!
