Kate Vandermeer, founder and director of ISpyStyle and the official blogger for this years L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival has come up with a fabulous idea for youngsters keen to get into the fashion industry.

“After years of speaking on panels about my own career path and lecturing in Fashion at RMIT University and Whitehouse Institute of Design, I felt there was a gap in the market to offer students and emerging creative’s the opportunity to learn about the various roles within the Fashion Industry by running some interactive Career Workshops. They are fun, informative yet realistic about what to expect from a career in fashion. I’ve collated a fabulous group of inspiring but down to earth speakers who will share their journey and advice. I only wish I had this kind of opportunity when I was growing up!”

The result is a one day series of workshops where you can attend some or all of these informative sessions in order to find out more from the people who know.

With a high calibre of industry speakers including Cathryn Wills (Creative Director ‘Mimco’), Philip Boon (Celebrity Stylist), Aimee McCallum (Creative Director Tiger Peacock & Freelance VM ‘Husk Stores’), Jade Roberts (PR Manager ‘Sportsgirl’), Kate McKibbin (Managing Editor ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous Daily’), and Rachel Tuffery (Director ‘Pronto Productions’).

To be held as part of L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival cultural programme, the event takes place on Saturday 13th March at Melbourne’s Whitehouse Institute of Design.  You can attend just one session for $35, or pay $55 for the whole day (booking fees additional) and you also receive a gift bag.  Tickets available through to purchase at (PayPal) and

This is a great opportunity for an appropriately keen and interested budding fashionista.  The winner will be drawn randomly, and completing each of the above increase your chances of winning.

Winner will be drawn on Thursday February 25th.  No negotiating, no nasty emails or comments if you don’t win, no other yucky stuff please.  Good luck!

NB: Leeloo is in no way officially affiliated with ISpyStyle or LMFF, this is a ticket that we’d like someone to have.  Thumbnail image found on LMFF web site.

Winner has been chosen using random generation – entry is number 3.

  2. I have also twitted and faced you! Alas i didn’t get in before Madame Mishy but i would still also LOVE to go because i want to study fashion/costume designs and dress us all up like mad victorians and play polo with bicycles and tennis rackets and drink gin out of teapots. Yes. That is why.

  3. Well, I was already following you on both as it turns out!
This seems like a really great event, thanks for blogging about it. Even if I don’t win I will hopefully buy a ticket since I’ll be down in Melbourne for LMFF, woo!

  4. Heard of this comp through Twitter (@escapadeevents) and immediately became very excited. I was tossing up whether or not I could afford to go, but here you are with a competition, so why not sign up?
