Making it Handmade

Making it Handmade, the documentary about the Melbourne underground and somewhat subversive crafty community is coming to Sydney after a sellout screening at the 2010 Melbourne International Film Festival.  Event is this Saturday October 2nd at 7pm at Mu-Meson Archives in Annandale.

Limited tickets are still available here but be quick. For more information visit the Facebook event.

A Q&A will follow the film with the Director, Anna Brownfield and two of the featured crafters, Rayna Fahey and Casey Jenkins from Melbourne’s Craft Cartel.

“I wanted to show that craft was no longer daggy but had moved into a new era and was being reclaimed by women who had been brought up as feminists.” – filmmaker Anna Brownfield

Casey and Rayna are also exhibiting and holding a workshop tomorrow (Sat 2nd Oct) at Object Gallery. We Craft This City is a day of inspiring (AND FREE) workshops with key community facilitators.  Apparently things get a little nuts and there’s lots of cackling to be had.  Click here for the Facebook event
