We’re proud to present the Perth-ian side of things via one of our lovely new guest bloggers, Hila!
It’s that time of year, Perthites! Time to save up your pennies for Perth Upmarket, which will be open for the Winter Warmer on Sunday, 26th June 2011, from 10am-4pm at The University of Western Australia’s Winthrop Hall.
Perth Upmarket is one of my favourite market events in Perth, and the Winter Warmer sounds like it will be a real treat this year with over 150 Perth designers, artists, stylists, craftspeople and gourmets gathering to provide the best handmade wares Perth has to offer. Keeping with the winter theme, there will be plenty of warm comfort food and drinks on offer, cosy chairs and woollen winter clothing. You’ll also receive a map and coupons in the Hall foyer to start up your day.
Perth Upmarket has become a bit of a Perth indie institution ever since it was established in 2008 by creator, Justine Barsley, who moved to Perth in 2006. As one of Perth’s biggest market events, it’s quite diverse in its array of handmade goodies, including clothing, food, wall art, cards, paper products, prints, photography, homewares, jewellery, skin care products, and lots more.
Some of my own personal favourites include Allambie Grove’s Olive Oils, Eucalypt Homewares’ beautiful ceramics and Pigeonhole’s gorgeous jewellery (on which I’ve spent way too much money in the past, ahem). Have a peek here at all the other products that will be displayed at the Winter Warmer.
One of the nicest things about Perth Upmarket is also getting to know local designers and artists on a more personal and creative level through workshops. This year’s Winter Warmer workshop is a lovely free hand-sewing button activity run by Claire Turpin Designs and Tied with a Ribbon, which reminds me of the kind of sewing activities I used to do with my grandmother on cold wintry days spent indoors.
